OBITUARY

Leah Jahleece Norwood was born on April 8, 2000 in Harbor City, California and was raised in Long Beach, California. She is the daughter of Mark Norwood and Nicole Burgers. She was also a loving granddaughter, sister, niece, and friend. Leah was pursuing a degree in Psychology with minors in Africana Studies and Art at California State University at Northridge and was a budding artist with award winning poetry and photography. She created her own businesses since the age of 13 years of age.  Her self drive and motivation powered her to published multiple pieces of work in magazines across the country.  During her first year of college she began interning at an art school in Venice Beach, CA where she taught children her passion for photography and storytelling.  In 2020, she was an intern at Originals Magazine, where she edited and created content.  She was interviewed on podcasts, she won photo contests and received monetary awards.  She was signed to a modeling contract.  She modeled for various photographers, landed a commercial audition, raised money and contributed hundred of dollars to a national, well respected African American organization.  Her latest accomplishments included agreeing to provide photography content for the New York Times, agreeing to develop content for a solo photography show in San Francisco which was intended to occur in the beginning of 2021, and publishing her poetry in Anti-Fragile magazine which will be released shortly.

With a smile that would light up any room she entered, Leah walked to the beat of her own drum and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
